Sashimono is an ink made by blending soot from rapeseed oil and pine resin . By combining the fine particles of rapeseed oil soot with the coarser particles of pine soot, the ink gains a rich depth of color. When ground into ink, it produces a smooth, pure black; when used as a diluted ink, it has a slightly brownish tone.
